Australia - you're standing in it
Interesting thing, the human mind!
Morrison talks to God and god talks back. Albo talks to unionist and they don’t talk back but issue instructions and Albo does what he is told.
Much the same thing. God’s probably more inclined to listen than the unionists are.

I thought Albo was just being LNP light? According to some other posters here anyway. Can't be that plus being the bitch of the union movement.
Just maybe he is trying to govern to the centre for the majority of Australians but ya won't hear that on the 6pm news.
Now run along.....
yerblefargle.. farkin.. unionists.. bstrds.. murgle...

JellyFlater. Hi mate. Hope ya well.
This was my point yesterday. Most get it, RoadDill didn’t get it.
It’s all orchestrated by the producers, they tell their interviewers to ask these irrelevant questions, they know they’ll get a reaction, more on line readers and punters jump on board, comment, react and so on, off she goes, it just gets bigger by the hour and before you know it, the scumbag tabloid has achieved its goal, eyes on their subject matter.
Sickening, more to the point, this is a facsimile of how our global society operates these days. Puke. AW

hahahahaha, I thought for a minute I might go, like going to a death metal gig, or Taylor Swift gig, just to see what goes on in the other worlds, but then I imagined wet gloomy weather, standing in line, and waiting around with people breathing on me, and realised I'd leave after about 12 minutes anyway, realising I knew what it all was all along...

Sounds like they’ve just confirmed it. So horrible.
I’ve never been to Mexico. Got a couple of mates in San Diego who head down to Baja pretty regularly. Definitely get a sense you can do almost everything right but just cross paths with come bad hombres.
Heartbreaking for the family. RIP.

Dont really care who's behind the cartoons and dont agree with half of One nations policies, but they are great cartoons and very well done.

That's really nasty given that the young bloke worked to make up for the crime, seen footage of him give a great heartfelt acceptance speech.
was going to attempt to show @wax24 some clips from 'australia you're standing in it', d-gen, general piss-taking of all aussie politics/society/culture to give the name of this thread some context for an overseaser.. but it's too much, too parochial, too hard to sum it up. In the context of the ABC not being very funny anymore, (shaun micallef holding down the fort for far too long, charlie-p and adam-hills laughing too hard at rehearsed set pieces, a quiz show dominating, will-a's cynical capitalism-funny works maybe os?) any fave clips or ideas? rob sitch impersonations? should he watch frontline? the castle? clarke and dawe? how do you translate that time.. the days where culture wars were a whack on the back in a pub over a beer?

Thanx Base and Jelly. Sorry for delayed response. Last nite at work (where i do the vast majority of my SwellNettin) was too extra to be able to get online. (It gets extra here alot.) I would be very hard pressed to "explain" Seppo Land and particularly the Bay Area to any "overseaser." That stuff lives in the heart and the memory bank and cannot be installed without first hand experience. I do enjoy all the little cultural thingys i observe in this space and am grateful that i can be here for it. Technology is such a double edged sword. Or maybe, tech is just tech and it is humans who are the double edged sword.
@wax24, I visited your part of the hood around 20yrs ago ;)
- ocean beach was big and cold
Had a mad feed in chinatown, plenty of walking around etc
Drove from there down to San Diego.
Nice Jelly! Did ya drive down 101 or down Hwy 1? Hwy 1 is the coastal highway. You woulda went down thru Big Sur. If ya did, you'd remember it easily. Ocean Beach is big and cold, yes, for sure. The current there is singularly wicked and makes for some very heavy water. Like gettin hit by a train. The presence of the Noahs is felt differently there than other spots around here, but, tho swim bys are not uncommon, there has never been an attack. Which is just strange but we'll take it! I grew up gettin wet at the south end of the beach. Jack O'Neill opened his first surf shop at the north end in the 50s, before moving his concern to Santa Cruz. I've been told his was the second surf shop in the US (Dana Point was the first) and that he was the first to use the phrase "surf shop." Also that he invented the wetsuit. I have actually never researched the veracity of those claims. But surf culture has always been huge around here, if a bit underground compared to other spots. Chinatown was where my fave restaurant was as a teen. They'd let ya bring your own beer in, even as youngsters! Cheap, drunk dining.... chow fun is the best for hangover prevention, imho. I could go on and on about The City. I will just leave with my fave SF quote, from my fave author, John Steinbeck. He said, of San Francisco in Travels With Charley, that "she is so sure of her greatness that she can afford to be kind."
^ lovely quote
We went the coastal highway, lots of stops along the way. Water reminded me of Tassie, not just the rubber factor - seemed heavier or maybe that's just an effect from the cold.
Was hoping to score Rincon, fat tides and not enough swell - but vividly remember reading a report for the morning I was heading through Santa Barbara and surfers had seen a white shark in the line up bite a seal in half there a day earlier, so I didn't feel I missed too much ;) Scored in Santa Cruz anyway.
Beautiful scenic spots and amazing in parts going south where the winding highway goes over gorges and little waterfall / river outlets cascading from the hills into the ocean. Some wild terrain in between the townships.
Lucked out with mostly fine conditions and crisp winds, nothing too out of control - some places had a grey water feel. Can't remember the name of a town we stopped at in between some amazing golf courses, but it was hilly and quite bouldery and small bays with pebbly sand - I remember watching a James Toney fight on free to air tv - the beachy reminded me of avoca or somewhere like a central coast set up with holiday houses dotting the corners.
Would like to return again with family one day, got a mate not far from Joshua Tree to visit and another near San Antonio so would like to do some further exploring of other parts not necessarily on the coast.
Sounds like a wonderful trip, Jelly. Yeah, Santa Barbara used to be mellow, but about 20 years ago or so the Whiteys changed their behavior, there. Have been at least 3 fatalities since, and those incidents described a VERY aggressive animal. Not normal for them. I stay away from that area now, though i used to get in there. Got in there with a buddy at midnite once, and he asked if sharks get more frisky at night. We paused and i said that i think Whites are more daytime activity types. We stayed in for a bit. Would never do that now. If ya ever get to Joshua Tree or San Antonio, the desert in Northern Arizona is a lovely go in March. That town where ya saw the fight? Maybe Carmel? Or Pacific Grove? I was hankering for a, would you guys call it a Walkabout? (Maybe that's just Crocodile Dundee, lol.) My medical reality changed that channel, for now. But, a trip down Hwy 1 sounds medicinal, to me.
Carmel, that's the one!
- thnx for the memory jog ;)
Glad to.
& here is some australiana, it's not quite hwy 1 yet sounds medicinal

flollo wrote:Where is all this stuff indo? I can't see any of it outside the sensationalist online videos.
Im guessing you didnt watch the video as it was about a whole range of things and looked at from a UK view point comparing to UK or USA, pretty much all things mentioned are well know by us all and been big talking points here.
These are just some of the aspects mentioned in video rough time stamps,
BTW Much of the video was positive about where Australia is at
0:48 Protest Lockdown Vs Jewish hate protest
1:00 1,000% increase in Victoria for children treated for gender dysphoria in less than a decade
1:25 Australia day division
2:00 Positive take on things compared to USA & UK
3:50: Voice results
4:10 Success of our border control policy
5:25 Multiculturalism positive's and negative's etc
6:10 About high immigration comparing UK to Aus etc and our recent huge increase in imigration rates
7:10 Sam Kerr racism issue
I watched the video and respect the author but I don't agree with some of this narrative. Classic hyperbole about some issues that you never witness in day-to-day life.
The "I can't believe it's not politics" thread.
