So who are you going to vote for?

indo-dreaming's picture
indo-dreaming started the topic in Thursday, 8 Aug 2013 at 5:05pm

I normally put both major parties last and any crazy independent parties first, as for me there all as bad as each other and anything they say they will rarely do.

But this time, im voting labour for Kevin, i was happy to see karma come around and bite Julia and of all the people in politics since good old Bob Hawk, i like Kevin the best.

He's proven him self to be a fighter hes come back from what seem like the dead, to me i think he has what it takes to be a leader a leader needs to be a bit arrogant and do what they believe, I also like that he understands the importance of Australia's relationship with SE asia, obviously like any politician and political party, he's far from perfect and any government is going to waste money, the way i look at it at least with things like NBN we will all be of benefit, and i want damn fast internet through my smart TV.

On the other hand i cant stand Tony, he just seems so negative plus i know its silly but i just cant trust people who wear budgie smugglers, i really have no idea why the Liberals stick with him, plus Liberals seem good at managing money but they only seem to look after the people who have heaps of money.

So who ya, going to vote for?

PS. lets keep it civil yeah :)

Happy, I have spelled out why labor lost.... i spelled out why Labor was going to lose for the past 8 months... There was a very slight glimmer of hope post Feb, but people just could not warm to Shorten... As far as the Labor "team" went, I'd give them a B+... Their 2 female stars, Tanya, and Penny, were best on ground in a losing side..... Bowen was good, not spectacular, but good.... Albo was workman like.... Their captain had an ok first 1/2, but became frustrated late in the game, cranky, un captain like..... A few of the forwards had shockers - Feeney, Burke, Dreyfus didn't even get a possession.....
But all in all a good solid loyal stable performance, with fairly good policies.... So that beggars the question, why less than 2% increase in primary vote when a team puts forward a stable united party with decent policy? Why would more people vote for the coalition rabble?
They don't like Bill....... Yes, it's sad...... But Beazley not getting a go was sad....... Sadder in fact.... He copped some big external shit re' the whole Howard GWB scene....... But Shorten made his own bed by knifing 2 pm's....... And that will always be around his neck..

FOR FUCK'S FUCKEN SAKE. To continue the footy analogy (jeezus wept), you fuckers have got to get off the corporate-sponsored flavoured sugar/salt water-ade.

Stop imbibing the stuff that's 'given' you and then regurgitating it. Or rather, stop spraying it over each other - 'cos it's shitty tasting but FREE - as you sing the club-song post-match.

The election was a DISASTER for TURDSTILL. A personal disaster. A political disaster for his 'team' and their 'game-plan'. Even with the amount of cascading corporate-sponsored flavoured sugar/salt water-ade splashed out there, his 'team' just scraped it in. From stratospheric personal approval ratings, after he shot, stabbed, ice-picked, and cremated Tony fucken Abbott (a true case for the power of personality politics, yeah?!), Lord Dickfists is now trailing behind guess who?

And they lost 14 seats! In a term. Or not even. Turdstill assassinated Tony in September.

And the senate! Ha ha! There were some runners supplying the corporate-sponsored flavoured sugar/salt water-ade that called the senate reforms and subsequent DD a 'genius' political move from supercoach Mal!

As for this ridiculous X factor 'cult of personality' shit, why swallow it? Why regurgitate it? Even if you think it's ridiculous X factor shit and you don't even watch it (much)? It's all the plebs fault. Them. They love it. They fall for it. Not me, no sirree. I like American Idol anyway. or Britain's got Talent. I mean, the missus does.

IMHO you're part of the problem or you're part of the solution. Easy. Especially in the pub. Or in the line-up. Or here. In the Men's Shed.

Interrogate don't regurgitate! BE the MEDIA!

Libs decided to play X factor HARD with Mr Internet, the 'sultana' on top of the dung-heap, this time round. Wonder why? Look at the front fucken bench! Now, there's a scare campaign! Fits right in with their 'individualist' ideology too.

Labor has gone back to the 'team' game. And after Kev Rudd, the Sunrise kid, Howard-lite, I say thank fuck for that. KR, another fizza like Turdstill.

And yes, Beige Shorten has united the Labor party. And going by the suite of policies worked on and released waaaaay before this election (years even...that in itself is pretty unprecedented)...and policies and announcements I might add that were pretty controversial, negative gearing, ETS, actually announcing they're going into a bigger deficit first term weeks out from polling day! That is unprecedented! Yes, Labor under Shorten have started the turn-away from neo-liberalism as unquestioned and unquestionable economic practice.

Sure, there's slipperiness, careful language, opportunism, populism, POLITICKING, but I think there was change, and there is change afoot. It may seem glacial in these whizz-bang times but it is progressive. It won't happen overnight etc etc

And then there's the LNP. Fuck. Back to the worst neo-liberal, trickle-down, un-funded-tax-cuts-for-the big-end-boys future. And they love it. Learned fuck-all from this result it seems. All someone else's fault. Take your pick. Immigrant Union Bikie Get-Up Thugs ringing grandmas in the middle of the night about Mediscare.

Bolt reckons Tones would've won the election 'Hanson-ly', erm, handsomely. Just ask him. Actually, you don't have to. It gets seeped into the media atmosphere free-of-charge...coming to a pub/club/forum near you.

Australian corpo-media. Time to shoot the messenger.

(whooops, too soon?)

Anyhow, get some Pie into ya!

At 77 seats to 69, I think your question is answered... It doesn't matter what I think.... What matters is what the pokemon chasing fucktards of Australia think, Floyd....... And that is what i have been pointing out..... You can weep, Turkmanistan can go to the window and bellow how he's mad as hell.... But at the end of the day, the neocons won..... They won...... I'm not happy about it...... So start questioning why they won instead of basking in an "honourable loss"..... it might help win the next election.

What is the 'result' of this election? Liberals lost 14 seats. Turnbull Liberals in the main. Not Abbott Liberals. They even lost one to their Coalition partners the Nats. The Nats also regained all their seats from last time.

How does that fact effect how this Government, who campaigned on 'stability', govern? Internally, who, in this 'stable' government, will be calling the shots?

And then there's the others across the board.

There's Hanson. Big winner, relatively.

And then there's Xenophon. Another big winner. Again, relatively.

On or off-side with this 'stable' government?

Total Liberal wipe-out in Tassie. What does that mean?

Eden-Monaro. THE bell-wether seat. From 1972. Not now. Boundary changes to blame?

What's a neo-con, Doggo, in your estimation?

They winning, ya think?

Not just here either, but in the US? UK?

Corbyn, with pretty unprecedented member support, is dragging the UK Labour party back to the Left. The party and all the corporate media are resisting.

Sanders has done the same in the US to a degree. He's actually mentioned the word 'socialism' and brought it in from the cold. Without complete decimation. Far from it. All without corporate media support.

On the other side of the ledger, we have Trump and the new post-Brexit Tories, including Boris Johnson (again?!). There's definitely some 'con' there. Are they winning?

Neo-liberalism. Going from 'won' to 'winning' to...??????

In the US and UK voting is not compulsory. We know that. Their 'left' and 'right' are also different on their particular political spectrums too. Different from each other and different from us.

Implications from all this as to how Labor here changes further? And how they gain further support? And in particular, how they get their message out there?

"So start questioning why they won..."

THAT IS THE QUESTION INDEED.

I THINK THE CORPORATE MEDIA IS A HUGE PART OF THE ANSWER.

Circumvention, by all means, is necessary.

Firstly you write "Interrogate don't regurgitate! BE the MEDIA!""....... Then straight away after that you regurgitate an Andrew Bolt fur ball........ "What is the 'result' of this election? Liberals lost 14 seats. Turnbull Liberals in the main. Not Abbott Liberals. "
Bullshit, mate...... i know Bolt has been spilling this crap.... But it's bullshit..... Stop reading his page for a while...... The "3 amigos" in tassie, that you made mention of, were ALL public Abbott supporters...... All 3 wiped..... Jamie Briggs , a turnbull supporter, was involved in a pre election scandal, and was taken down by Xenophon , not Labor.... So the seat of Mayo had nothing to do with Abbott.... Anne Aly was helped by some gutter tactics that backfired on the coalition... Even then she only JUST won... Peter Hendy was sabotaged by his own party via leaked emails.... And there's more and more..

So take your own advice, big buddy.... Stop regurgitating, and start looking deeper into it...

"Turnbull Liberals in the main." IN THE MAIN. IN THE MAIN.

Bolt?? Huh?? Let me guess, Bolt is spruiking for his BFF and the Abbottite 'Delcons' within his beloved party?

Every other commentator, be they corpo-media, online, professional, amateur, political, academic, Left, Right, sideways, that is looking at the FACT of the divisions within the LNP is totally wrong?

You saying there are no divisions? That after knifing, shooting, ice-picking etc etc Tones, with a ballot result of 54 - 44 mind, and then literally flopping over the election line, whilst losing party political allies, Mal can safely proclaim "stable government starts now"? There are no implications flowing from this election 'result'? Nothing to see here?

Your messy morass of a comment is beyond confusing and confounding. Am I just punchy...bruised and confused...again (according to you)? You're attributing my questions with Bolt's narrative take? I thought I asked questions. ASKED QUESTIONS. Like you said:

"So start questioning why they won ..... it might help win the next election."

Too many questions it seems?

(Though the role of activist groups, the union movement, and grass-roots Labor faithful in on-the-ground and online engagement, which bypassed the corpo-media and usual channels, is interesting for the future. The impact of Get-up, say in Tassie? Bernardi for one is interested.)

3 - Also has to deal with the likes of Hanson Hinch etc in the senate, as well as the greens.
4- Still not popular as a leader with the electorate

Turnbull confirmed (in his opposition to Labor's proposed action against negative gearing) that there was no modelling to support his view that it (Labor's proposal) would reduce house prices and increase rents .... basically, it was trust me, I know best statement ........ Likewise there is no modelling here or anywhere that categorically proves that a tax cut to big business increases growth and jobs ...... its a discredited policy dating back to Reagan and Thatcher but what is beyond doubt it redistributes tax payers money upwards to the mega wealthy.
