AIR ASIA COST FOR BOARDS

I haven’t flown with airasia in years. The only airline I know of in indo that includes boards in your checked luggage is Garuda and possibly citilink . I flew superjet ( lion group ) last year going up to Padang and it was 200,000 rp ($20) per board , per leg , they don’t count a board bag as 1 surfboard, they will ask how many you have and check if they doubt you . So bali Jakarta being one leg then Jakarta Padang being second leg . Garuda gives you 20 kg , if your board bag comes in at that weight then no charge . I have been told first hand by people flying Bali to Bima ( sumbawa ) that it’s 1,000,000 rp ( $100 ) per board . For all the fucking around low budget airlines give you in indo , I believe Garuda is the best option .

Don't fly Air Asia...just don't do it to yourself.

The link udo put up had your costing for AA , seemed reasonable compared to Lion group . First time I flew AA domestically in indo , I couldn’t believe how cramped the seating was. They cater for Indonesian passengers not Aussies , all though in saying that , many wealthy Indonesians, particularly children , are getting to the obese range. Best of luck and hope you score good waves .

Listen to Craig…..just don’t do it. If you have a problem they are very hard to deal with.
We got stung on the way home last year Supa. Batik = good. Air Asia = Bad.
But yeah about 20,000rp/board.

Can't say about AirAsia. I flew Jakarta to Banda (return) with Lion last September, each leg carrying 3 boards in a 6'7" triple carrier. Didn't charge per board, and they didn't ask. Check in early before plane starts filling up, be polite, respectful, and friendly to the checkin group certainly wouldn't harm your chances.
Concur with Supa that Garuda is the best option if don't want to risk the low budgets.
Hey everyone, has anyone got up to date info on the cost of taking boards on Air Asia from Jakarta to Banda? I've heard on the grapevine it's $100 / board. Can anyone confirm if this is true. Thanks in advance.
