Q. Do your protective caps have an expiration date or a shelf life?
A: Fibre-Metal head protection meet current ANSI 89.1 standards and can last
indefinitely with proper use and care.
Any signs of cracking, gouging or unlimited exposure to environmental factors would justify the replacement of the hardhat.
Similarly, any signs of excessive wear would require replacement of the hardhat suspension. (Generally a suspension should be replaced every two years). Updated:

Q. What are protective cap suspension "points"?
A: Suspension "points" are the points where the suspension system is connected to the cap. During normal wear, they balance the caps weight for comfort. On impact they become impact energy load bearing points in the impact energy control system. The more suspension "points" the better because the spread the caps weight and impact energy over a wider area of the head for better performance. Updated:
